Confidential counselling for couples, relationship and sexual issues
Welcome to my website. My name is Elke Grolig and I am a highly trained and experienced Couples Counsellor and Sex Therapist. Based in Epping, I provide specialist services for Essex and North London. I have a broad range of experience working with couples and individuals on difficult and complex relationship and sexual issues, and regularly achieve successful results with clients feeling less stressed, happier in their relationship and better connected with their partner after treatment.
Feeling trapped at home? Don’t let your relationship suffer!
These difficult times present a particular challenge for couples and families: many of our daily routines and structures have been disrupted or become obsolete, and we are all experiencing additional pressures in our lives. Couples or families find themselves together 24/7 and many of us are trying to work from home while little ones need to be entertained, educated and looked after round the clock - without the possibility of childcare.
Family members might have caught the virus, leaving us feeling anxious, vulnerable and powerless. We all have to cope with these new emotional pressures and insecurities, and this might easily leave us feeling overwhelmed.
To keep a relationship healthy and functional in these current circumstances there is often a need for additional support and help. Online counselling is an effective step to help you and your partner or family stay safe and healthy throughout these challenging times.
I can help you understand and find solutions to problems that might otherwise feel overwhelming.
Relationship and sexual issues can affect anyone and I am experienced in working with people from every walk of life and background, working with same sex and heterosexual individuals and couples. Apart from running my own private practice, I work as a visiting clinician for the Tavistock Centre for Couple Relationships (TCCR).
As your Couples Counsellor I do not take sides and you will not be judged or blamed. Successful counselling needs a trustful working relationship and confidentiality is one of the core requirements. When coming to Couples Counselling or Sex Therapy, I want to help you move on as a couple and will make sure both you and your partner are heard and listened to in the strictest confidence.

The Principles of effective Relationship Counselling
Many couples experience distress and unhappiness at some point in their relationship. Some couples may separate, others stay together and try to work out and repair what has gone wrong in their relationship. Relationship Counselling can help you to better understand your feelings, make sense of them and use them to resolve your issues. It can help you:
- Change the views of your relationship
- Modify dysfunctional behaviour
- Decrease emotional avoidance
- Improve communication
- Promote personal strengths
- Regain hope and trust
How successful is Couples Counselling/Psychosexual Therapy?
You might wonder about chances of coming out as a happier and better connected couple after Counselling/Psychosexual Therapy.
Having worked with couples for many years, I can say that the majority have left feeling happier and stronger (both emotionally and sexually). Experience shows that, as long as both partners are truly committed towards improving their relationship, there is a very good chance for a successful outcome.
However, there are no guarantees, and this might mean that one partner doesn’t achieve the outcome they had wished for.
